FAQs

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with all sorts of adult clients (18 years old and over) dealing with all sorts of challenges and concerns: anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, men's issues, relationship challenges and substance use. My approach to working with clients, which is highly experiential in nature, fits well for many challenges clients bring to counseling. If you're someone interested in exploring and working through what's beneath the challenges you face in an experiential way, I encourage you to reach out to see if we'd be a good fit.

Do you take insurance?

I currently do not take insurance. However, I do accept payments through Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). I also can provide a superbill to you to submit to your health insurance provider if your plan comes with Out of Network (OON) benefits. I recommend consulting with your insurance provider to determine whether you have Out of Network benefits, and what type of coverage your plan has.

If you're interested to learn more about why I don't take insurance, you can read more about that here.

Do you do telehealth or virtual sessions?

I do offer telehealth sessions. This can be a convenient way to meet if in-person sessions are out of reach, or if something comes up at the last minute.

However, I have found through meeting with clients and through my own counseling that meeting in person has significant benefits. No amount of technology currently available can replace the lived experience of sitting in the same room with another person (COVID-era Zoom fatigue, anyone?). I believe in-person sessions allow for us to connect more quickly and more deeply, which can have a direct impact on the work we are doing together. This isn't the case for everyone, but I find this to be generally true.

You ultimately get to decide what works best for you. If you're considering preferring telehealth sessions, I'd be happy to discuss this more with you to ensure our sessions are helpful and meet your needs.

How long are sessions?

The session "hour" is anywhere between 50-55 minutes. However, some sessions can be longer or shorter, depending on what you need. If that is the case, I'm always willing to discuss the length of our sessions to best match what works for you.
